If you want to improve the chances of accomplishing a goal, don’t just broadcast your ultimate goal to everyone. Instead, be accountable to someone you trust for completing the action steps required to accomplish the goal.
It’s fine to share a goal with someone because it will help keep you to it and avoid failure. It will give you a boosted sense of accomplishment merely for the recognition of your plan. However, there is more you can do to make it happen.
For example, if you plan to go on a diet and lose 15 pounds and you share it with others, you will immediately get congratulated on your goal as if you’ve already accomplished it. However, also, to publicly acknowledging the idea that can help in motivation, ask for accountability along the way in your daily and weekly steps to reach your ultimate goal.
When you have a big project or task to complete, ask someone to keep you accountable for each action step that will help you reach your goal. Accountability will not only help you obtain your ultimate goal but will give you periodic wins and a sense of accomplishment along the way.
